Winning mahjong hands
A winning hand in LRC Taiwanese 16-tile mahjong is five sets — triplets or runs — plus a pair, scored by the named patterns it contains. These 45 example hands cover every scoring pattern in play, from a 1-point flowerless hand to the 140-point all-honours hand. Open any hand for its full, tile-by-tile worked example.
Flowers
Honours
- No Honours 1 pts Only bamboo, character, and circle tiles — no winds, no dragons. See the worked example →
- No Flower & No Honour 5 pts Zero flowers + zero honours = 5 pts flat (covers both individual bonuses). See the worked example →
- No Flower/Honour — All Sheung 15 pts All sheungs + no flowers + no honours = 15 pts (replaces the 5pt version). See the worked example →
Wind Tiles
- Wind Pong(s) 1 pt per pong Pong of East wind = 1pt base + 1pt seat bonus + 1pt round bonus (East round, East seat). See the worked example →
- Little 3 Winds 15 pts East pong + South pong + West pair = Little 3 Winds (15 pts). See the worked example →
- Big 4 Winds大四喜 60 pts All 4 winds as pongs. Big 4 Winds (60) wins over Little 4 Winds in conflict resolution. See the worked example →

- Little 4 Winds 50 pts East + South + West pongs + North pair = Little 4 Winds (50 pts). See the worked example →
Dragon Tiles
- Dragon Pong(s) 2 pts per pong Pong of red dragons = 2 pts. See the worked example →

Triplets
Terminals

- Terminal Pong Set(s) 3–15 pts 111 bamboo + 999 bamboo = terminal pong set (3 pts). See the worked example →
- Terminals with Honours 20 pts 111b + 999c + East pong + Red pong + 789o sheung, pair 99o — every set is all-terminal-or-honour, with both terminals and honours present. See the worked example →
